INGREDIENTS
1.5 cups flour (oat flower or gluten free flour mix for GF)
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
3 tbsp cocoa powder
⅓ cup maple syrup
1 tbsp ground flax seed (or vegan powdered egg replacer)
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup apple sauce
½ cup water
INSTRUCTIONS
1). Preheat the oven to 375.
2). Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl, then add the wet ingredients and stir.
3). Spoon batter into a nonstick or silicone doughnut pan. You may have to spray your pan lightly if it likes to stick. The doughnut batter rises a lot so do not overfill the pan.
4). Place in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes depending on the size of your doughnut pan. Makes about 6 regular sized donuts and 9-10 mini donuts.
NOTES
Optional Glazes
Peanut Butter Glaze: Take powdered peanut butter and prepare according to package directions and thin with a little maple syrup and drizzle on top.
Chocolate Glaze: Mix 6 tbsp powdered sugar with 2 tsp cocoa powder, ¼ tsp vanilla, and 3 tsp of water. Drizzle over the top of the donuts and enjoy!

These are good healthy alternative to a non fried donut. I do like they aren’t too sweet. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to make the “egg” so I just mixed it in the dry ingredients and it came out just fine. The peanut butter glaze is delicious. I added some vegan chocolate chips on top. Mine made 10 regular sized donuts because I used a ziploc bag to pipe in the batter so they wouldn’t spill over. Thank you Kiki for this oil free donut recipe!
